MEET CATHERINE FOGARTY
Writer, Producer & Podcast Host
Catherine Fogarty is a storyteller. She is the founder and president of Big Coat Media and Story Hunter Podcasts. An accomplished television producer, writer and director, Catherine has produced over four hundred award-winning lifestyle, reality and documentary series for both Canadian and American networks.
Catherine is the executive producer/creator of the Gemini nominated series Love It or List It, one of Canada’s most successful lifestyle/reality formats now in its tenth season on HGTV. The series has garnered world-wide recognition and is currently airing in over twenty countries.
Catherine is also the writer, producer and voice of Story Hunter Podcasts, a narrative true crime podcast that focuses on Canadian crime stories. Launched in 2020 with an eight-part series on the infamous Evelyn Dick, and a five-part series on octogenarian killer Peter Demeter, Catherine does a deep dive into the history and mystery surrounding many famous crimes involving Canadians wherever they may be.
Nominated for a Canadian Podcast Award in its first year, Story Hunter Podcasts hit an exciting milestone in September 2022 with the release of its 60th episode!
In 2021 Catherine published her first non-fiction book, Murder on the Inside: The True Story of the 1971 Kingston Penitentiary Riot. The book has been praised by The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail and the Literary Review of Canada.
Murder on the Inside was also acknowledged by Indigo Books as one of the best history books of 2021 and was recognised as a “must read” by Publishers Weekly. The book has recently been nominated by Crime Writers of Canada for the “Brass Knuckle Award” for the best non-fiction crime book and the Ontario Legislature Speaker’s Book Award. Murder on the Inside was also nominated for the Ontario Library Association’s Evergreen Book Award.
